Friendly colleagues. At work, we are more than just colleagues – we build meaningful relations, help each other and want to know each other better. There is no usual hierarchy structure, so we address each other in a simple you and all co-workers can freely access all managers.

Relationship with managers. Managers and co-workers are valuated based on their behaviour, being in line with the IKEA values. We have annual one on one talks dedicated to discuss not only goals and assignments, but also our well-being.

Equality. We ensure that co-workers in the same position get equal possibilities and pay, no matter the gender, age, etc.

Swedish traditions. We love combining work with entertainment. Join us in celebrating the Swedish Meatball Day, the Cinnamon Bun Day and other Swedish holidays, sharing news in the Good News Breakfast and enjoying fika together.
Salary. We monitor salaries in the market and seek to ensure that co-workers are paid competitively. When company achieves its goals, no matter in what department you are working, everyone who has worked a full financial year gets the bonus.

Health insurance. Every co-worker after the end of probation period receives a health insurance.

Discount at IKEA. IKEA is a great place to work for those who love furnishing their home. Our co-workers get a special discount for the latest collections, iconic products and other home furnishing solutions.

Free of charge treats. IKEA has a co-workers restaurant that not only offers high quality food at low prices, but also fruits, vegetables, coffee, and tea free of charge.
Trainings and development. Various trainings from interior design to mindfulness to good sleep are available for all co-workers. We also encourage them to try different fields of responsibilities, e. g. Customer Relations specialists can try the functions of Logistics and the like.

Succession planning. Most of the IKEA managers have their successors, employees who participate in decision-making, work on projects together, and can take over managing if needed.

Safety as top priority. Evacuation, fire extinguishing and other special trainings happen on a regular basis for co-workers to know how to react in emergency. We also have a Team 500 (specially trained co-workers who can provide the first medical aid).

Sustainability. We seek to work in a way that is people and planet positive. We sort and recycle all food and logistics related waste, save water, and have our premises equipped with sensors that help save electricity.
 
 

Blue and yellow is the new black

What we wear says a lot about who we are. Co-worker clothing strengthens our brand personality and brings us together as many parts of the same IKEA team. This is why our top managers, office, store and warehouse co-workers all wear the uniform.

Our new uniform was created using the same democratic design principles as any other IKEA product – form, function, quality, sustainability and low price.

A combination of blue and yellow comes from the Swedish flag and reflects our Scandinavian roots. The blue base stands for long-lasting, hardwearing quality, while the yellow is highly visible and easy for customers to spot us across all meeting points.

Designed for wearing, tearing and recycling         

Before the global launch, new clothing was tested in five markets: 400 IKEA co-workers were interviewed about their wishes and how their uniform could support their daily work and comfort.

Most of the garments are made of sustainable and natural fibres, with minimal waste of materials, water, energy and chemicals. The new uniform uses recycled polyester, cotton from more sustainable sources and Tencel, a fibre made of wood pulp.

All co-worker clothing is made to be recyclable when reaching the end of its lifespan. Easy recycling is enabled with limited amount of material types combined in one garment and reduced amount of details on the garments.
