The client owns a cosy apartment on the banks of the Daugava River, with a picturesque view from the window. Ideal for short-term rentals, as visitors are attracted by the expansive views, bright and airy rooms and proximity to the water. The apartment had to be furnished in a way that would suit different people and be versatile, but with a personal touch.

About the project

The main requirement for the interior design was to make the space highly functional and suitable for short-term stays, as well as cosy for singles, couples and families with children. Each of these groups of short-term tenants has its own specific requirements, and in this apartment it was necessary to balance them – a strong emphasis on one group could rob the property of some of its appeal to the other groups.

For many, calm natural and earthy tones will be best. They have a calming effect, can easily be matched with certain bright accents if necessary and are timeless in their appearance. Ligita Margeviča, owner of KALNIŅI AL, who commissioned the project, said: "I am really happy with IKEA's work. It was a big plus for me as an entrepreneur not to have to think about ordering interiors and furniture. Everything was ready to go, everything was assembled. To order the kitchen furniture, an IKEA representative came and measured it beforehand. There was no charge for that. Missing parts were supplied and we could return anything we were not happy with or didn't need."

Beautiful and functional

The interior is a symbiosis of the owners' high expectations, good taste and IKEA values. A stylistically coherent interior solution that meets modern aesthetic and functional standards. It has been highly appreciated and praised by short-term renters.

The interior design of the bedroom in a short-term rental apartment should be as simple and practical as possible, as the stay is relatively short. However, practicality should not mean lowering the aesthetic. A variety of furnishings, textiles and artwork on the walls can help to raise this. They freshen up interiors, make them more individual and are easy to replace when you need to redecorate a little.
