"So many needs, so few rooms... A small apartment should not keep you from living comfortably. The solution? Use your space to the max by dividing it in areas!"
Elīna Grieze, IKEA Interior Designer

Designer's advice
In many apartments, the living room is the centre of all the daily action – people eat, watch TV, do crafts, play and sleep in this room. A clever way to avoid chaos is to divide the room, using colours and furniture.
"No matter where your interests lie and whether it's fishing, collecting rarities, crafts or DIY projects at home that get you going any time, there is always a way to organise everything you need to spark the passion!"
Inga Dejus, IKEA Interior Designer

Designer's advice
The best way to keep clutter contained is to organise it. Open shelves can be quick to create a cluttered impression, while closets make things not as accessible as we would sometimes like them to be. But there is always a way – choose open shelves and put some nice-looking organisation boxes there. Everything at hand and clutter at bay.
"They say if you haven't used a thing for a year, you do not actually need it."
Kristīne Jansone, IKEA Interior Designer

Designer's advice
A clean and orderly space helps organising your thoughts, makes you feel better and boosts your self-esteem. My advice is to organise everything according to function – blankets and bed sheets go in the bedroom, all the kitchen stuff goes in the kitchen and so on. Easy to find is easy to use!
"In interior design, it's all about finding the right lighting."
Līva Salaka, IKEA Interior Designer

Designer's advice
In kitchen, it is very important to think about the lighting. Lighting can enhance the functional properties of a room. Lighting strips under wall cabinets will make cooking easier and can also be used as mood lighting.
"In every interior, form should follow function. That means considering first your needs and then your wants."
Dagne Bērziņa, IKEA Interior Designer

Designer's advice
A room should reflect the personality of it's inhabitants in every way. The functional features are what they need and the style is what they want. There is always a way to combine and to adjust !furniture in a small bedroom so that the interior fits just right. A dressing table in bedroom is a way to convert it also in a space for getting ready in peace.
"An organised space is key for efficiency at work!"
Barba Romanovska, IKEA Interior Designer

Designer's advice
There are many ways to create office environment fit for productive work. The most important furniture in office is desks that have to be chosen and placed with care. Choose desks with adjustable height to move more and stay healthy.
"Hallway is a representation of our entire home. Some people that come into our home never go further than this one room, so the impression they get there will be the impression they will have about our entire home."
Renāte Vāvere, IKEA Interior Designer

Designer's advice
When creating an interior for a room it is important to consider the home as a whole, so that different rooms do not clash. It's not about the whole apartment or house looking the same, it's about a harmony in style which shows in details.
"The more functions a room has, the more complicated to find interior solutions to fit just right. Dare to accept the challenge!"
Ieva Buka, IKEA Interior Designer

Designer's advice
As an interior designer, I see teenager's room both as a space that gives a lot of freedom as teenagers like bold colours and combinations and as a space that challenges. It is always a good idea to combine spatious storage solutions that make it easier to keep everything in order and light, mobile pieces of furniture as accents.
