Glass is mainly made of sand, soda and lime melted at a high temperature. Tempering or various additives gives you extra-strong and impact-resistant glass that in some cases can be taken straight from freezer to oven without cracking. A big benefit is how glass can be recycled over and over without the quality deteriorating. Also, a lot less energy is needed to melt recycled glass compared to new raw materials. Our goal is to eventually use only recycled glass in our range.

This episode of "Home idea with IKEA" takes us to a home of a dancer Beāte who is just as passionate about interior as she is about dance. She says that interior is like a choreography - an interior well executed likens a harmonious dance. The apartment, inherited from her grandmother, has been designed with much care and love, allowing Beāte's love for all things retro to show. However, the kitchen has proved the hardest part, still sporting some 90's charm but without the functionality and comfort that the heart of each home deserves. IKEA interior designer Valērija will need all of her skill to transform this kitchen into a modern haven with a homey retro charm.
This season, application for interior makeovers with "Home idea with IKEA" was open not only for individuals but also for small businesses. Interior designer Alla will face a very special challenge: a new interior for the production state/retail shop/tasting area of "Mītavas čiekurs". "Mītavas čiekurs" or "The pine cone of Mitau" is a family business and, not unlike many of the great names in business nowadays, it was born in a garage. Business owner and manager Reinis says he wishes the now stark and industrial interior would get some more warmth and cosines, so Alla sets out to fulfil this wish.
Jars, carafes, candle holders and other glassware that you already have at home can be a great starting point for a refreshing flower display. Set your creativity free with your favourite picks from outside or the florist.
