Family peace and wellbeing in everyday life

The session is led by psychotherapy specialist Aina Poiša.

Family wellbeing is shaped not only by external circumstances, but also by the emotional climate, relationships between family members, and the ability to restore one’s energy. When there is a lack of calm and balance in everyday life, this often shows itself in rest and sleep quality as well.

In the session, you will learn how:
  • the emotional atmosphere in the family affects the wellbeing of children and adults;
  • tension, fatigue and unexpressed emotions influence rest and sleep;
  • parents can take care of their own inner balance in order to strengthen the whole family;
  • to create a calmer everyday environment that helps both to unwind and to rest better.

Typical “crises” of two-year-olds, three-year-olds and other age groups

The session is led by Dr Sabīne Bērziņa, a Doctor of Psychology and expert at the Latvian Parents’ Organisation.

During a child’s developmental stages, strong emotions, resistance and tantrums often emerge, and this behaviour can be difficult for parents to understand. These so-called “crises” are in fact a natural part of a child’s development.

In the session, you will learn:
  • what behavioural changes are typical at different stages of a child’s development;
  • what the “crises” of two- and three-year-olds really mean;
  • how parents can stay calm and respond in a supportive way in challenging situations;
  • how to strengthen a child’s sense of security and mutual connection, even in difficult moments.

Raising with love and boundaries – how to set healthy boundaries and say “no” to your child

The session is led by Dr Sabīne Bērziņa, a Doctor of Psychology and expert at the Latvian Parents’ Organisation.

Boundaries give children a sense of security and help them build healthy relationships with the world around them. Loving, clear and consistent boundaries are not a punishment – they are the foundation of a child’s emotional development.

In the session, you will learn:
  • why it is important to learn to say “no”;
  • how to set boundaries without guilt, shouting or punishment;
  • how to distinguish healthy boundaries from excessive control;
  • how parents’ behaviour affects a child’s self-esteem and sense of security.
