A father and daughter, wearing aprons, are standing at the counter in the kitchen and cutting vegetables on a cutting board. There are several bowls of colorful chopped vegetables on the counter.
We are delighted that on Wednesday mornings families have been gathering at IKEA to learn many useful lessons about raising children. In September, three conversations are planned on important everyday topics – cooking, sleep, family time, and time for yourself. See you soon at the New Parents Mornings! Special event for IKEA Family Club members.

Cooking together, growing together: kitchen as an exciting school

Cooking together boosts a child's self-confidence, develops skills, and creates a special bond with parents. Learn how to make this process a family joy rather than a chore.

In this class, culinary expert and author Anna Panna will explain:
  • how to turn kitchen chores into an exciting learning process for children;
  • what skills children learn when cooking with their parents;
  • ideas for parents on how to remain patient and enjoy the process.

Good sleep for mom and dad. How to ensure it?

Sleep is one of the most valuable things for parents, but the arrival of a baby in the family often means sleepless nights.

In this class, you will learn:
  • how to organize your daily routine to improve sleep quality for the whole family;
  • what habits disturb the night's sleep of parents and children;
  • practical solutions that will help you regain strength and energy.
The class is led by Marta Celmiņa, a pediatrician and sleep specialist at the Epilepsy and Sleep Medicine Center.

Time for yourself, time for your child. How to arrange it?

Parents need to find time for both their children and themselves in their daily lives, only then can a family be balanced and happy.

In this class, you will learn:
  • how to balance your time, ensuring both your child's needs and your own well-being;
  • how to prevent burnout and feelings of guilt;
  • practical ideas for incorporating small "time resources" for yourself into your daily routine.
The class is led by Sabīne Bērziņa, Doctor of Psychology and expert at the Parents' organization "Mammām un tētiem" ("For Moms and Dads").
